The Imo Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has arrested its ex-corps member over his involvement in the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) nationwide protest while in uniform.

The sector commander of the FRSC in Imo, Evaristus Ebeniro, disclosed this to reporters on Thursday.

He said the dismissed officer, whose name was undisclosed, was arrested after being caught in unprofessional conduct, and the commission’s regalia was recovered.

Mr Ebeniro revealed that although it was discovered that the protester was a special marshal of the corps, he has since been de-marshalled and no longer holds a Special Marshal’s identity card.

He said, “The incident prompted the command to commence an investigation to unravel the identity of the protester.

“It is now confirmed that the protester who happened to be a unionist was once a special marshal.

“The command hereby makes it categorically and unequivocally clear that the protester is no longer with the corps and that he acted alone in that show of shame.”
