Police, journalists partner to curb crimes in Ebonyi

The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ebonyi council, and the Nigeria Police Force are in partnership in the fight against criminalities in the state.
The Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi, Augustina Ogbodo, during a courtesy visit to her by the chapel on Sunday in Abakali, described journalists as “very important stakeholders in the fight against crime,”
Ms Ogbodo assured of a continued relationship with the chapel to ensure Ebonyi was free from security threats.
“The truth is that journalists are very indispensable in information dissemination, they hold the key to it.
“The command will continue to partner with the press for crime prevention and control,” she added.
Earlier, Uchenna Inya, acting chairman of the chapel, said the visit was to strengthen the relationship between the police and media practitioners in curbing crime in the state.
Mr Inya commended the police command for its efforts to stabilise the security system across communities in Ebonyi.
“There will be lawlessness without security agents, especially the police, which have been at the forefront in the fight against crime in the society,” Mr Inya said.
“We are here to assure you of our support in the fight against crime and criminality in our dear state through our reportage as watchdog of the society,” he added.
