Tunisian interior minister Kamel Feki and visiting director-general of Italian Civil Protection Fabrizio Curcio vowed to strengthen cooperation on natural disaster response and forest fire fighting.

The Tunisian interior ministry said in a statement that the two officials also agreed to advance the two countries’ cooperation in scientific research and enhance the exchange of experiences in the fields of disaster forecast and forest fire fighting.

They also renewed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on technical assistance cooperation in the areas of civil protection and disaster prevention.

The MoU was signed between the civil protection agencies of the two countries in 2013 to tackle climate change in the Mediterranean region and the rest of the world.
