At least a dozen reporters have been killed, and numerous others have been injured or harassed since the Israel-Hamas conflict began in the first week.

According to a report by the Voice of America (VOA) on Tuesday, the casualties include journalists from Reuters, Al Jazeera, and Agence France-Presse (AFP).

One of the casualties was video journalist Issam Abdallah with Reuters, who was killed on Friday while reporting live near the border in southern Lebanon.

According to a spokeswoman for the UN, “If the situation worsens, it’s likely that more tragedies like this will occur.”

Since Hamas militants launched an onslaught in Israel on October 7, more than 4,000 people have died on all sides of the conflict.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), 12 of those people, including Abdallah, were reporters who were covering the attack and counteroffensive.
