Man arrested for flogging son’s teacher to death

One Nnajiofor Nweke has been arrested in Delta State for flogging his son’s teacher to death.
The suspect was said to have committed the act after the school authorities reprimanded his son for stealing two kegs of palm wine.
Disclosing this on his X platform on Thursday, the spokesperson of the state police command, Bright Edafe, said the incident happened on Wednesday, October 18, in Agbor, Ika South LGA.
Narrating the incident, the spokesperson said the student (name withheld) of Alihame Mixed Secondary School, Agbor, along with others, allegedly went to a local palm wine shop and stole two kegs of palm wine on Wednesday.
According to him, the matter was reported to the school authorities and as punishment, the students were flogged.
Aghast by the flogging of his son, the unnamed student, the suspect stormed the school in protest with a cane and started flogging teachers indiscriminately, and as a result, one of the teachers, a 33-year-old man slumped and died.
He said the suspect is currently undergoing investigation for murder at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at the State Command Headquarters in Asaba.
The post read, “On 18th October 2023, the suspect Nnajiofor Nweke, a father of one student (name withheld) at Alihame Mixed secondary School Agbor, on the said date, his son alongside some other students went to a palm wine shop and allegedly stole two kegs of palm wine.
“The matter was reported to the school authorities and the students were flogged. The suspect came to the school in protest, with a cane, and started flogging teachers in the school. One of the teachers slumped and died. The suspect is currently in SCID undergoing investigation for a suspected case of murder,” he added.
