EPL: Chelsea, Man City share spoils after eight-goal thriller draw at Stamford Bridge

Ex-Manchester City youngster Cole Palmer scored a stoppage time penalty as Mauricio Pochettino’s side held Pep Guardiola’s team to 4-4 draw in an entertaining game at the Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
In the 25th minute, Erling Haaland took the lead after the Norwegian converted the penalty awarded to Manchester City after Marc Curcurella dragged Haaland, running towards a cross from Bernardo Silva, down in the 18-yard box.
Barely four minutes later, Thiago Silva brought Chelsea back into the game with a header courtesy of an assist from Conor Gallagher. In the 37th minute, Raheem Sterling scored against his former club to put Chelsea in the lead for the first time in the match.
Manuel Akanji equalised for Manchester City just before the halftime break. Two minutes after the break, Erling Haaland dragged the ball into the net as the visitors retook the lead for the second time in the encounter.
In the 67th minute, Nicolas Jackson levelled for Chelsea for the second time in the game after Ederson spilled Galagher’s shot into the feet of the Senegal international, as both sides continued their search for more goals in the classic game.
Again, Manchester City regained the lead in the 86th minute after Rodri shot just outside of the 18-yard box was deflected by Silva, sending goalkeeper Roberto Sanchez the wrong direction.
The game ended with City’s academy graduate Palmer becoming the hero as he calmly scored the penalty kick awarded to Chelsea Ruben Dias wiped Armando Borja off the ball inside the box, salvaging a richly-deserved point for Chelsea.
