Navy arrests suspected cult member in Ondo, hands him over to SSS

The Nigerian Navy has arrested a suspected cult member, Tosin Wanlele, who had allegedly been terrorising people of Igbokoda in Ilaje Local Council Area of Ondo.
Mr Wanlele was arrested by the navy following an intel to his alleged criminal activities in Igbokoda town.
The commanding officer of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base in Igbokoda, Wasuku Alushi, alleged that Mr Wanlele and other members of his gang, who are currently at large, had been harassing and intimidating locals in Igbokoda with dangerous weapons.
“It would also interest you to know that the suspect was confirmed by the head of the vigilante in Igbokoda to be a notorious and known cultist who has been terrorising the people of Igbokoda for a long time,” he said.
The naval boss revealed that the suspect, tracked down and apprehended on Sunday, had been handed over to the State Security Service (SSS) for further investigation into his crime.
He added that the naval base has continued collaborating with other security agencies in Ondo State to stem the tide of cultism.
“Accordingly, he (Wanlele) has since been handed over to the Department of State Service for further investigation.”
He, however, promised that Igbokoda town and its environs would continue to experience relative calm with maximum security protection from the combined efforts of the security agencies.
“The base is also calling on the good people of Igbokoda not to hesitate in providing timely and actionable intelligence on criminal elements for possible arrest,” Mr Alushi added.
