The Ondo State House of Assembly has withdrawn its case against Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa at the Abuja Division of the Appeal Court.

On September 26, Justice Emeka Nwite of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court restrained the assembly, its speaker and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu from proceeding with the impeachment plan against Mr Aiyedatiwa pending the determination of a notice of interlocutory injunction.

Subsequently, on October 2023, the speaker filed an appeal through the assembly’s counsel, Femi Emodamori.

But at the proceeding on Thursday, the counsel to the applicants, Remi Olatubora, told the court that the parties involved have decided to withdraw the case

Mr Olatubora added that the parties have found a political solution to their problems.

The Gazette reported that the counsel to the deputy governor, Adegoke Kayode Adewusi and others did not object to the withdrawal.

The court thereafter dismissed the case.

The withdrawal came after President Bola Tinubu intervened in the state’s political impasse between Messrs Aiyedatiwa and Akeredolu.

During a meeting with stakeholders last week, Mr Tinubu told the state assembly lawmakers to stop the political logjam and withdraw all cases in court.
