Shettima departs Abuja for Addis Ababa to attend nutrition forum

Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to lead a historic government-to-government peer exchange focused on accelerating nutrition delivery.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, made this known in a statement on Tuesday.
Mr Nkwocha said Mr Shettima would attend the forum on the invitation of the deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Temesgen Tiruneh, who is championing the country’s multisectoral approach to boost nutrition in the country.
He said that the vice president would participate in the inaugural Nigeria-Ethiopia Nutrition Leadership Exchange Visit, a forum aimed at enabling key stakeholders to share experiences of building a federal, state and local compact on nutrition.
Similarly, Mr Nkwocha said during the visit, the Nigerian team would exchange experiences with Ethiopia on how a government-led plan can improve nutrition delivery.
The presidential aide added that the delegation would tour key establishments dedicated to boosting nutrition delivery across the country.
He said some of the locations scheduled to be visited include a wheat farm and a banana plantation in Oromia; the ‘Bounty of the Basket’ Training Centre and household visits in Mojo; and Jabdu Motors in Bishoftu.
Mr Nkwocha said that Mr Shettima is being accompanied by the governors of Zamfara and Jigawa states, Dauda Lawal and Umar Namadi respectively.
He also said on the trip are the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Bagudu; and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari.
He said the Director-General, National Emergency Management Agency, Zubaida Abubakar, is also in the entourage of the vice president.
Mr Nkwocha said that the vice president would return to Abuja at the end of his engagements in Addis Ababa.
