After back-to-back defeats against Manchester United and Everton in the league, Chelsea are back to winning following an impressive 2-0 win against bottom-side Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were the better side from most of the game, but Sheffield were able to keep them at bay until nine minutes after the break when Palmer put the hosts ahead after the youngster calmly put Raheem Sterling’s assist past the goalkeeper.

In the 61st minute, Chelsea doubled their lead through Nicolas Jackson, courtesy of an assist by Palmer — a decisive cross landed on Palmer’s feet inside the box, which the visitors failed to clear, allowing Jackson to put it into the net from close range.

With the victory, Chelsea has garnered 22 points from 17 games this season and now sit 10th on the league table – a familiar position for the West Londoner since last season.

Meanwhile, Manchester City again slipped in their pursuit for a fourth consecutive Premier League title win after Pep Guardiola threw away a two-goal advantage to settle for a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium.

In the 24th minute, Jack Grealish scored from Phil Foden’s assist to put Manchester City ahead. They then scored again nine minutes after the halftime break, courtesy of youngster Rico Lewis.

Surprisingly, with 15 minutes left to play, the two goals were not enough to earn Manchester City, who have struggled to get results in their recent league games except the win against Luton Town last weekend, the maximum three points in their backyard.

Crystal Palace would go on to score two goals within the period, with Jean-Philippe Metata scoring in the 76th minute and the equaliser from Michael Oliseh from penalty in stoppage time to salvage a point for the visitors.

City remain fourth on the table with 34 points, two points behind league leaders Liverpool, who can extend the margin to six points if they win their own against Manchester United on Sunday.
