Police arraign four teenagers for unlawful gathering in Ibadan

Four teenagers were on Friday arraigned before the Iyaganku Family Court, Ibadan, for alleged unlawful gathering and constituting public nuisance.
The defendants, whose addresses were not mentioned, face a two-count charge of conspiracy and unlawful gathering.
The four defendants are Kehinde Sodiq, 17; Akande Azeez, 16; Mubarak Fakorede, 17; and Basit Odekunle, 16.
The police prosecutor, Insp. Gbemisola Adedeji told the court that the offences were committed at the White House, Labo area of Ibadan, at about 1:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023.
Ms Adedeji said the police arrested the defendants for gathering unlawfully and constituting a nuisance in the area.
According to her, the offences contravene sections 64 (a) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them by the police.
The magistrate, O.O. Ogunkanmi, granted defendants N100,000 bail each, with two sureties in like sum.
Ms Ogunkanmi said one of the sureties must be a parent or guardian of each defendant and be responsible.
She, thereafter, adjourned the matter till March 17 for mention.
