A hotel manager, Henry Udoh, on Thursday dragged one Abubakar Sadiq to the Shari’a court I sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna State for allegedly refusing to pay for lodging in a hotel.
The prosecutor, ASP, Luka Sadau, who presented the case in court said the accused booked a hotel room in December 2023 for a week costing him N105,000.
“He only paid N80,000 and promised to pay the outstanding by the end of December but failed to return. It was on January 12 that the matter was reported to the police station at Magajin Gari and arrest was made,” he said.
He added that the accused paid N10,000 at the cell remaining an outstanding of N15,000.
On his part, the defendant pleaded guilty to the offence bordering on cheating.
He however, prayed court to give him two weeks to pay the N15,000 outstanding.
The judge Mallam Isiyaku Abdulrahman granted bail to the defendant on the condition he provide a reliable surety and adjourned to January 30 for the defendant to pay the balance.
