Army rescues four kidnap victims, nabs one terrorist in Kebbi

The army said the four male victims had been reunited with their families as troops continued the search for fleeing terrorists.

The Nigerian Army has announced the rescue of four kidnap victims and the arrest of one of the terrorists in their hideout in Sabon Gari Village, Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

In a statement on its official X handle on Tuesday, the army said it recovered three AK 47 rifles, three magazines, 142 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and two pairs of camouflage uniforms.

The statement issued by Yahaya Ibrahim, the spokesperson of the 1 Brigade Gusau, also said the operation was undertaken on Tuesday morning by troops of the 8 Army Division alongside operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and local vigilantes.

“Troops of 8 Division, Nigerian Army, in conjunction with operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (@official_NSCDC), including local vigilantes, in the early hours of today raided terrorists’ camp and successfully rescued four kidnapped persons and recovered arms and ammunition.

“The raid operation was conducted in the identified terrorists’ hideout at Sabon Gari Village in Shanga LGA of Kebbi state. During the operation, troops neutralised one of the terrorists and extricated four kidnap victims. 

“The troops also recovered three AK 47 rifles, three magazines, 142 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and two pairs of camouflage uniforms,” the army said.

It added that the four male victims had been reunited with their families as troops continued the search for fleeing terrorists.
