Customs confirm killing of three officers in Rivers

Nigeria Customs Service has confirmed the killing of customs officers in Rivers Saturday attack.
Peoples Gazette on Sunday reported the killing of policemen at checkpoints in Omuanwa and Omagwa Road in the state.
A spokesman for the NCS at Zone C, Jerry Atta, said the officers were killed at a patrol base in Isiokpo, the headquarters of the Ikwere local government area.
Mr Atta revealed that gunmen went away with an AK47 and two Toyota Hilux vans belonging to the NCS.
The customs linked the attack to frustrated armed smugglers, adding that it would investigate the circumstances that led to the attack and its motive.
Although the police spokesperson in Rivers, Nnamdi Omoni, had confirmed the attack on the police, the force did not release the number of officers killed.
“We condemn this heinous act, share the grief of the security agencies and convey our sincere condolences,” said Governor Nyesom Wike.
