Guard hangs self as ex-wife remarries

The corpse was released to the deceased’s family for burial.

A 37-year-old guard at Prestige International College, Danmusa Steet, Gadon Kaya, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State, Nuradeen Shehu, has reportedly died by suicide.

The Commissioner of Police, Hussaini Gumel, told reporters on the telephone on Tuesday that the incident occurred inside one of the classrooms of the college.

He said on January 28 at about 10:30 a.m., Abdullahi Abdulsalam of Rijiyar Zaki brought a report that one Nuradeen Shehu, a guard at the college, was found motionless after he hanged himself with rope in a classroom.

He explained that a team of policemen from Gwale Division, led by the DPO, was at the scene and forcefully unlocked the door, cut the rope and rushed the body to Murtala Mohammed General Hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.

The body was released to the family of the deceased for burial.

Information revealed that the deceased hanged himself, having realised that his ex-wife had remarried.

He said that the police would thoroughly investigate the motives behind the incident.
