Leader of the UK Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, has berated the UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham and his cabinet members for what he described as their style of playing the ostrich amid global energy crisis caused by shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz.

Ms Badenoch criticised the UK leadership  in a post on her social media page on Sunday.

“Saudi Arabia’s East-West oil pipeline has been damaged by drone attacks. The strait of Hormuz is restricted, Houthi bandits threaten shipping routes into the Red Sea. Another oil shock is coming,” Ms Badenoch said.

The UK Conservative Party leader lamented the impact of Strait of Hormuz shutdown on British economy, lashing out at the UK leadership for ignoring the crisis.

“The Strait of Hormuz is restricted. British families and businesses know another oil shock and energy crisis is coming. But our Prime Minister and his cabinet are behaving like a flock of ostriches. Their heads are buried so deep in the sand they could strike oil themselves,” Ms Badenoch said.

The UK Conservative Party leader said the solution for UK “is simple: Drill our own oil and gas in the North Sea.”

The UK government, formerly led by ex-prime minister Keir Starmer, had failed to coperate with U.S. government to prosecute the war against Iran. 

Lingering crisis between U.S. and Iran since February has left the Strait of Hormuz on shutdown, triggering global oil crisis.
