Tinubu pledges adequate funds for education sector
President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration will provide adequate funds to develop the education sector.
Mr Tinubu, represented by Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, gave the assurance during the eighth convocation ceremony of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti.
He said his administration was determined to upgrade the standard of education in Nigeria to ensure that every indigent student in each state benefited from the student loan.
Mr Tinubu congratulated the university’s graduating students and prayed that they would be successful in all their future endeavours.
Also, the president congratulated leaders of the Senate, Opeyemi Bamidele, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance; Senator Solomon Yayi and chairman of the House Committee on Navy, Yusuf Gadgi, for the Honorary Doctoral Degree given to them by the institution.
The president, however, sympathised with the families of two late traditional rulers killed by suspected kidnappers, assuring that his administration would track, arrest and prosecute the perpetrators and eradicate kidnapping.
Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji commended the university’s management for their achievements within a few years of its establishment.
Mr Oyebanji assured the institution of his administration’s continuous support and charged the graduating students to be modest in their celebrations after the convocation ceremony.
