After Nigerians boycott threat, El-Rufai evades The Platform

Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, who was one of the speakers in the 2021 edition of the annual national discourse conference, The Platform, failed to show up at the programme.
Nigerians have been vociferous in their opposition to Mr El-Rufai’s invitation to conference on grounds that he has been sectional and vindictive in addressing killings and violence in Southern Kaduna as well as harassing citizens. #BoycottThePlatorm trended for the most of Friday.
The governor who was initially listed as one of the speakers of the 2021 edition of the annual conference organised by Poju Oyemade of the Covenant Nation was nowhere present during the conference.
He was listed alongside Governor Kayode Fayemi, former Minister of Aviation Osita Chidoka and the President of Nigerian Bar Association, Olisa Agbakoba.
The program was themed ‘Is Devolution of Powers the Solution to Nigeria’s Problem? and was held May 1, 2021.
It is immediately unclear if the organiser revoked the governor’s invitation just like the Nigerian Bar Association withdrew theirs or his absence to the programme was deliberate to avoid backlash by attendants.
