Police disperse hoodlums as Lagos task force demolishes illegal structures in Lekki

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command stormed Lekki to strengthen the security presence for officials of the state task force on a demolition. .
Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babjide Sanwo-Olu on New Media, Jubril Gawat, disclosed this on his official X handle on Tuesday.
According to him, the demolition of illegal structures, shanties on the Coastal road alignment and Jakande Estate was underway on Tuesday morning when miscreants resident there, blocked the express road to express their displeasure over the exercise.
He however stated that the police at the Ilasan Division deployed reinforcements and returned normalcy to the area.
Mr Gawat said, “The Lagos State Task Force started demobilisation of illegal structures, shanties on the Coastal road alignment and Jakande estate lekki. Miscreants from the shanties took over the express road and blocked both sides. DPO Ilasan, swung into action and normalcy has been restored back to the area.’’
He also noted that security agencies were still on ground to prevent further breakdown of law and order by the miscreants.
