Again, police arrest Mohbad’s friend PrimeBoy

The Lagos State Police Command says Mohbad’s friend Ibrahim Owodunni, popularly known as PrimeBoy, was arrested for the second time since the death of the singer in September 2023.
PrimeBoy, also a singer, was interrogated on Tuesday after his first arrest in October 2023 amid the investigation into Mohbad’s death.
The singer and Ayobami Fisayo, also known as Spending, were arrested after visiting the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba.
According to Lagos police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, PrimeBoy and Spending were asked to visit SCID weekly since the start of the investigation into Mohbad’s passing last year.
Mr Hundeyin said the afro singer was questioned over alleged defamation of character and other allegations cited in the late singer’s wife Wunmi’s petition.
The police spokesperson said, “One of the conditions under which he (Primeboy) was granted bail during the Mohbad’s case was that he would come to the state CID every Tuesday to sign just to keep an eye on him so that he wouldn’t run away. So he came in today, and it took longer than usual.
“This is because Mohbad’s wife wrote a petition against him which defamation of character was part of it. He was questioned on the allegation. After the questioning, I was told that the DC asked him to go. So the SCID confirmed to me that he had left the place about five minutes ago (6:12 p.m.).”
However, Punch quoted a source as saying, “When they got there, Primeboy was immediately handcuffed and detained. They allowed only Spending to go after he had signed.”
The Gazette reported the death of Mohbad on September 12, 2023. Despite the investigation and questioning of suspects such as the late singer’s former record label boss, Naira Marley, and socialite Sam Larry, further details about the findings, including autopsy reports, remain unknown.
