The police command in Lagos says it will exhume the remains of Afrobeats artiste Mohbad for autopsy.

“If need be, the body will be exhumed. It’s not too late. The body can be exhumed and autopsy can be performed,” stated the command’s spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Thursday during an Instagram live session with on-air personality Daddy Freeze.

Mr Hundeyin’s comment followed police chief spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi’s statement on Thursday that the police would investigate the singer’s death after much uproar over the controversy surrounding his demise.

Mohbad died on Tuesday. He was 27. Mohbad was buried on Wednesday in Ikorodu.

Mr Hundeyin added, “The Force PRO issued a statement this evening (Thursday) saying that investigation will commence and that’s what we’re going to do. The statement also states that people should bring whatever information they have to the commissioner of police in Lagos state.

“That is because we don’t want to do hierarchy anymore. Take it to Force headquarters, bring it to Lagos State command, it doesn’t matter. We are going to harmonise it within ourselves and ensure that justice is done.”
