A petition to the Nigeria Police Force by late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad, seeking protection against alleged threats to his life and properties by Naira Marley’s ally, Samlarry, has surfaced.

Mohbad, the former Marlian Record signee, died on Monday at 27 and was buried on Wednesday. However, circumstances that led to his demise are yet to be ascertained.

The singer’s petition was dated June 27, 2023, and titled, “Petition of Threat to Life, Malicious Damage of Properties, Valued the Sum of Five Million Naira, Assault Occasioning Harm, Oppression and Conduct Likely to Cause Breach of Peace Against Samlarry Elegishi, Elele, Obele and Others.”

In the petition, Mohbad alleged that he was shooting a video when thugs numbering about 15 and led by Samlarry attacked him with dangerous weapons and threatened him. He said Samlarry claimed to be acting on orders of Oba Elegushi.

He also alleged that the thugs damaged the equipment for the video shoot, which he valued at over N5 million, adding that he was injured during that attack but narrowly escaped.

“On 25th June 2023, while having a video shoot with another artist by name Zlatan Ibile, the above-mentioned persons numbering about fifteen led by Samlarry Elegushi invaded the premises with dangerous arms such as guns, cutlasses etc., where I was shooting video and scattered the whole process of the shooting, damaged the equipment I was using for the shooting valued about five million naira and started threatening my life which in the process they became violent and assaulted me which I sustained injuries but narrowly escaped.”

“Attached to this petition is the said pictures. Total amount I paid for the shooting they have destroyed is eight million naira (N8,000,000), which is non-refundable.

“However, during the assault, they were boasting that they work for Oba Elegushi and that they have been asked to deal with me for reasons best known to them, which, till date, they are still threatening to kill me if seen.

“Sir, I call on your good office to save my life from the above-mentioned persons and bring them to book. Thank you for your timely intervention,” the petition partly read.

After the petition surfaced, fans questioned the police on why the police have not acted on the petition since June, let alone make any arrests.

However, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, to absorb the command of blame, said Mohbad’s petition was addressed to an office superior to theirs.

“The @LagosPoliceNG is headed by a Commissioner of Police. This petition was taken to the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Lagos office, headed by a superior officer, an Assistant Inspector-General of Police,” Hundeyin posted on his X handle on Thursday.
