Etsu Nupe lauds Niger govt. over N976 million Ramadan feeding, palliatives

The Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, has commended the Niger government for earning N976 million for the establishment of Ramadan feeding centres and the distribution of palliatives across the 8 emirate councils.
He was represented by the Gafaka Nupe, Abdullahi Umaru-Baban Nachi, at the inauguration of the exercise in Mokwa Local Government Area on Sunday.
Mr Abubakar said that the gesture could not come at a better time than now when Nigerians were facing various challenges, including economic hardship.
The royal father, who is the chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, said the Governor Umar Bago’s gesture would go a long way in alleviating the suffering of the people
The Etsu Nupe added that the month of Ramadan was the most auspicious for wealthy individuals, the government and other corporate organisations to extend their support to the less privileged.
He, therefore, urged those in charge of managing the centres and the distribution of the palliatives to do so with absolute piety.
According to Etsu Nupe, those who are given the mandate of preparing items for breaking of the fast and sharing of the palliates should do so with absolute fear of Almighty Allah and remember the day of reckoning.
The traditional ruler also appealed to the Muslim Ummah to use the Ramadan period to offer fervent prayers for the restoration of sustainable peace, unity and economic prosperity of Niger and Nigeria in general.
