Edo IDP camp coordinator seeks support to feed inmates

The Coordinator of the Internally Displaced Persons camp in Edo State, Solomon Folorunsho, is seeking support from well meaning Nigerians to feed the camp inhabitants.
Mr Folorunsho made the call during a visit to the camp on Friday, ahead of the Easter celebration on Monday.
The camp is in Uhogua, Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state.
The coordinator said that the management of the camp was in need of resources to take care of feeding, as well as payment of school fees for children of the displaced persons.
He added, “We thank God for some persons who, in spite of the economic constraints, still have time to spare. It’s a sacrifice. We are facing challenges. Nevertheless, we have some members of the host community that do come here to look for food to eat. Honestly, I must tell you that people are suffering. Just yesterday, we had over eight people from the host community who came here to look for food to eat. We are well over three thousand. Despite efforts to limit the number, there are some cases you can’t overlook.”
On her part, one of the supervisors of the camp, Evelyn Omigie, said lack of adequate foodstuff and other consumables was the major challenges facing the camp.
“I call on well-meaning Nigerians to support us. We need foodstuff, as the feeding of these children has drastically reduced. We don’t have food, because it’s whatever we have that we cook for them. We need assistance; we need scholarship for the children as we don’t want any child to drop out of school. Some of our teachers have stopped coming because we have stopped paying them salary.
“We want people that can help us with solar powered boreholes and solar light. We also need more hostels to decongest the existing one.”
