Kuwait’s Emir, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, urged voters on Monday to carefully select candidates who would serve as their best representatives, according to Kuwait’s official news agency, KUNA.

The emir emphasised the importance of electing individuals prioritising national interests over personal gain or divisive agendas.

He said this in an address to the nation broadcast on the official TV channel during the last ten days of Ramadan.

The emir called on citizens to participate in the upcoming National Assembly elections on April 4, emphasising that boycotting the elections would result in forfeiting constitutional rights.

The call for careful selection of parliament members comes against the backdrop of the recent dissolution of the Kuwaiti parliament.

He urged voters not to betray their vote and to choose candidates who speak with integrity, avoid inciting crises and uphold constitutional principles.

Sheikh Mishal issued a decree on February 15 to dissolve the National Assembly.
