The police command in Akwa Ibom has deployed 1,527 personnel to strengthen security in the state during the Eid-El-Fitr celebration.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, disclosed this in a statement by the command’s spokesman, CSP Odiko Macdon in Uyo on Tuesday.
Mr Ayilara felicitated the Muslim faithful on the occasion of the Islamic festival and urged them to pray for sustained unity and development in the country.
He said police personnel would be deployed to strengthen security around worship centres and other public places during the celebration.
”We thank the Almighty Allah for granting the Muslim faithful the grace to start and complete their religious obligations during the holy month of Ramadan.
”We pray Allah to bless the state, its people and Muslims within the state and beyond,” Mr Ayilara said.
The commissioner of police stated that the month of Ramadan remained a period of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and devotion to Allah.
He urged Muslims to be steadfast in the pursuit of peace in the state and to engage more in acts of charity and kindness.
