Kebbi government allocates land to FHA for 500 housing units

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi has allocated land to the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) to construct 500 housing units for the state’s civil servants.
Mr Idris made this known when the managing director of FHA, Oyetunde Ojo, paid him a courtesy visit in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
The governor pledged to compensate landowners for the construction of the 500 pilot housing units by the FHA in Kebbi.
He said, “I am the happiest person today, as I attach topmost importance to the provision of affordable housing to the cross-section of people, workers and non-workers alike.
“When I was the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) chairman and National Union of Teachers (NUT) chairman, we clamoured for the government to construct houses for the workers to address the housing deficit.
“That was how the Adamu Aliero Housing Estate was established, and the houses were distributed to the workers on an owner-occupier basis, including federal workers,” he said.
Mr Idris reiterated his administration’s commitment to doing everything humanly possible to enable the FHA to achieve its core mandate.
“I am assuring that all the needed documents for the planned housing estate will be made available as quickly as possible by the state Ministry of Lands and Housing,” the governor assured.
Earlier, Mr Ojo thanked the governor for his sustained support to the authority, saying, ”FHA is Kebbi’s own.”
“The federal government is committed to providing affordable housing to Nigerians in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu,” he added.
Mr Ojo said he was in Birnin Kebbri to solicit land, support, robust synergy, and corporate partnerships with the state government.
“We want to work together to achieve our common goal of providing affordable houses to the state’s people,” he said.
Mr Ojo also commended the governor for the developmental strides in the state, particularly the state capital, Birnin Kebbi.
