Man crashes vehicle into Scotland church car park, kills one-year-old baby
A one-year-old baby girl has died after she was hit by a Land Rover car which crashed into a Plymouth Brethren church car park on Wednesday. The incident occurred at 19:45 p.m.
The church located at the Plymouth Brethren meeting hall in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire, informed BBC Scotland News that the accident happened after a bible reading at the hall.
The baby was immediately rushed to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. She was, however, pronounced dead a few minutes after getting to the hospital.
A police inspector, Scott Dean, said “At this time, our thoughts are with the family of the deceased, along with everyone else affected by this tragic incident. Our investigation into the circumstances remains ongoing and we’d like to thank the wider Balmedie community for their patience and understanding as officers carry out their inquiries in the area.”
Also, the Scotland police said that the 40-year-old man who crashed into the baby girl with his Land Rover car was not injured.
The church appreciated the emergency services, informing them that they were “very professional and compassionate” in their response to the incident.
The church in a statement also said, “We are a very supportive church, and we are giving the family and friends of the people involved in the accident the help they need.”
