Indian groups in Nigeria seek PM Modi’s re-election

“We want Modi’s re-election inasmuch as he is physically and mentally fit,” the president of the Indian Cultural Association in Nigeria said.

The Overseas Friends of Bharatiya Janata Party (OFBJP), Nigeria chapter, on Saturday urged Indians in Nigeria to vote for the Indian Prime Minister for a third term in office.

The Indian general election is from  April to June 2024.

Pravin Kumar, general secretary of OFBJP, made the call during a forum on Modi’s achievements in his last two terms in office and to canvass votes for him.

Mr Kumar said that Modi had recorded remarkable achievements in the digital sector, which had rubbed off on other sectors, including industrial, health, and education.

He urged the youth to ensure Modi’s re-election so that they could benefit more from the friendly educational policy he created, which allowed students to access soft loans with minimal interest easily.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made useful policies for the common man in India. We want continuity in governance so that we can achieve the Bharatiya Janata Party’s vision for 2047, when India will be celebrating its 100 years of independence,” he said.

Also, Vikas Kane, OFBJP vice-president, said Mr Modi had been instrumental to sporadic infrastructural development in India in the last 10 years.

Mr Kane noted that Mr Modi built the world’s longest highway tunnel, the ATAL tunnel, and Asia’s longest tunnel, the Zojila tunnel.

According to him, this allowed for improved job creation for the youths.

He said, “We want to support Modi so that infrastructural development in India can be upscaled. In the last 10 years of Modi’s reign, 84 additional airports have been constructed with the previous 74 airports, so we have 158 functional airports now.

“In the last 10 years, road construction has grown from 91,287 kilometres to 146,145km. This is impressive, and we want him again.”

Sanjay Jain, president of the Indian Cultural Association (ICA), said Mr Modi was known as an honest person who prioritized the interests of Indians over personal interests.

Mr Jain said the prime minister transformed the Indian economy from the 10th strongest to the fourth.

He said that, according to the International Monetary Fund, India’s gross domestic product had grown by 7.6 per cent from 2023 to 2024 due to Mr Modi’s innovative governance system.

According to him, Mr Modi has made conscious efforts to boost the nation’s economy, which is worthy of commendation.

“We want Modi’s re-election inasmuch as he is physically and mentally fit,” he said.
