Catholic priest killed, another kidnapped by UGM in Katsina

One Catholic priest was kidnapped while another was killed at the St Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Malumfashi, Katsina state by unknown gunmen on Thursday night

Fr Chris Omotosho, the communications director of the Diocese of Sokoto, told Peoples Gazette that the gunmen abducted Fr Joe Keke, the former parish priest while the body of Fr Alphonsus Bello, the current parish priest was found dead in the farmland behind the Catechetical Training School, Malumfashi on Friday morning.

The whereabouts of Fr Joe Keke is still unknown as no contact has been made since the abduction.

At the time of filing this report, attempts to reach the state’s police spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, proved abortive as phone lines were unresponsive.

This abduction is the latest of abductions in the state, on Tuesday, Peoples Gazette reported that a Sharia Court judge had been kidnapped by unknown gunmen after they broke into the court in Bauren Zakat village in Safana Local Government Area.
