Elon Musk’s AI startup raises $6 billion in new funding

xAI, an Artificial Intelligence startup founded by billionaire businessman Elon Musk, has raised $6 billion in Series B funding, reportedly attaining a $24 billion post-money valuation.
A statement on the company’s website specified its plans to utilise the capital realised from the round to launch its inaugural products, build advanced infrastructure, and accelerate the research and development of future technologies.
The company also confirmed that the funding round was backed by investors, including Valor Equity Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, and Sequoia Capital.
“xAI will continue on this steep trajectory of progress over the coming months, with multiple exciting technology updates and products soon to be announced,” the startup stated.
The company primarily focuses on developing advanced AI systems that are truthful, competent, and maximally beneficial for all humankind. Its mission is to explore the true nature of the universe.
Reacting to the AI firm’s funding announcement, the businessman stated on X, “There will be more to announce in the coming weeks.”
Soon after it was founded in March 2023, xAI launched an AI product called ‘Grok’ after reportedly raising funds from investors such as Andreessen Horowitz and Valor Equity Partners, among others.
A recent announcement mentioned the enhancement of Grok- 1, to the Grok- 1.5 model, equipped with a long context capability feature, and Grok- 1.5V with image understanding.
