A cleric, Kunle Silas of Christ Miracle Church, Ilorin, Kwara State, on Saturday urged Nigerians to embrace unity and stop religious discrimination against one another.

Mr Silas made the appeal during an interview in Ilorin, noting that religious discrimination could breed hate and division in the country.

According to him, most people select friends based on religious affiliation.

“Let us stop discriminating against one another. Let us unite and see ourselves as one family. We should not allow religion to divide us irrespective of our beliefs. Consider yourself Nigeria first before any other thing. Be your brother’s keeper and help those who come to you for assistance. Give to the needy irrespective of their religion,” he said.

The cleric, however, urged religious leaders to stop hate campaigns and focus on the unity of the country.

He further said that religious discrimination would continue to disunite society if not curbed.
