ICAN Lekki district elects Flutterwave vice-president as new chair

The Lekki District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria has elected Olufunmilayo Olaniyi, vice-president of Business Development at Flutterwave, as its chairwoman.
The appointment was made recently during the second anniversary and investiture ceremony for the third Chairman of ICAN Lekki and District Society at the Lekki Coliseum in the Lekki Phase I area of Lagos.
The chairman of the investiture committee, Patrick Akamiokhor, gave a welcome address at the ceremony describing Ms Olaniyi as an accomplished and devoted young woman while also noting that the investiture will be remembered as one that shot the Lekki district from the second to the tenth level in history.
Mr Akamiokhor said, “We are witnessing the investiture of a young lady who is amiable, a workaholic, a goal-getter, a specialist in networking, a giver, a socialite, one with a very doable personality and a lover of God.
“This investiture will go down in history as the one that catapulted Lekki and district social from the second level to the 10th level.”
Meanwhile, after being elected as the new chair, Ms Olaniyi gave an acceptance speech, assuring members of her commitment to working hand in hand with all the stakeholders to elevate the Lekki District and Society to unprecedented levels.
Ms Olaniyi noted that her previous position as district general secretary prepared her for the new position and disclosed some of the goals she aims to achieve as the new chair.
Ms Olaniyi said, “I entertained no second thought when the opportunity presented itself for me to serve as the erstwhile general secretary of the district. Indeed, the experience from this role has helped me prepare to serve in the new capacity.”
The Flutterwave vice-president added, “My tenure will be hinged on the following goals: to transform our district to category A in the comity of districts in the institute, to inaugurate the foundation for the building of the district permanent office space, meeting rooms and conference hall, procurement of an 18-seater bus for the district, to complete the ongoing digitalisation of the district database; and automate all the processes and activities of membership in the district among others.”
