Soldier patrolling Paris injured in knife attack

A soldier guarding a major train station in Paris was stabbed in a knife attack on Monday, according to France’s Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin.
The attack occurred less than two weeks before the start of the Olympic Games in the French capital.
The soldier, who was part of the anti-terror unit Sentinelle patrol, sustained a stab wound but was not in critical condition, Darmanin said, adding that the attacker had been arrested.
Meanwhile, France is currently on high alert for terrorism, with Sentinelle soldiers in Paris and other areas armed and travelling in groups to defend against potential threats.
With the Olympic Games set to begin on July 26, the police and military have significantly increased their presence in Paris.
Defence Minister Sébastien Lecornu expressed his sympathy for the soldier on social media platform X, writing, “Support and recognition for our armed forces, which were doing more than ever to protect the security of the French people. “
