Three children were among the seven people killed in a fire overnight on Wednesday in Nice, France, interior minister Gerald Darmanin said on social media X.

A suspected arson attack in Nice, France, killed seven members of the same family, including three children.

“The rapid action of the fire department should have prevented many more victims,’’ said the minister on Thursday.

Ms Darmanin added that an investigation was underway to find out the circumstances of the fire.

According to local media, the building that caught fire was in the Moulins district of Nice.

Deaths of these people are being investigated in the southern French city of Nice as the result of a possible arson attack after a fire broke out in an apartment building overnight.

A total of 25 fire engines and 72 firefighters were involved in fighting the fire.
