Governor Mai Mala Buni has commended youths for shunning the nationwide protest in Yobe, recovering from protracted security challenges.

Mr Buni, in a statement by his spokesman Mamman Mohammed, appreciated the youth for heeding his call to shun the “needless” protest.

He said, “I am happy we are working on the same page. We clearly understand our situation; the state is just picking its pieces, and we can not afford to accommodate anything that will draw us backwards.

“The good people of Yobe, and especially our vibrant youth, have shown great love, concern and patriotism to the state by adhering to calls against joining the protest. With such understanding, the government would continue to execute people-oriented policies and programmes to improve the lives of the people.”

The governor pledged to expand policies and programmes to cover more beneficiaries and promote economic growth and development.

He further assured that the state government would ensure that Yobe becomes a role model in rain-fed and irrigation agricultural production.

He emphasised that with the level of understanding between the government and its people, the state would enjoy more people-oriented policies to improve the lives of residents.
