American rapper Jacques Bermon Webster, widely known as Travis Scott, was arrested in central Paris early Friday morning following an altercation with his bodyguard at the luxury George V hotel.

Scott allegedly assaulted a security guard who intervened in a fight between the rapper and his bodyguard, French authorities said.

The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed, “On August 9, police officers responded to an incident at the George V hotel and arrested the rapper known as Travis Scott for assaulting a security guard.

“The security guard had intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard. The case has been referred to the 1st district of the judicial police.”

Scott has been charged with “violence against a security guard.”

The police noted that he appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the incident.

A Paris police source said, “The suspect was drunk and had been fighting with another man—possibly a hotel receptionist. He was not in a condition to be questioned immediately and was placed in a cell to sober up.”

This arrest comes just a day after Scott was seen cheering for the U.S. team at the men’s basketball semifinal against Serbia at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

On June 20 this year, Scott was arrested in Miami on charges of disorderly intoxication and trespassing after a warning, according to public records.

His attorney, Bradford Cohen, commented, “Mr Scott was briefly detained due to a misunderstanding. There was no physical altercation involved, and we appreciate the authorities’ efforts in reaching a swift and amicable resolution.”

Scott’s representatives have not yet commented on his recent arrest in Paris. The investigation into the incident at the George V Hotel is still ongoing.
