Tinubu approves Ango’s appointment as FCT-IRS acting chairman

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Michael Ango as acting chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS).
Director of Press, Office of the FCT Minister, Anthony Ogunleye, said in a statement in Abuja on Friday that Mr Ango’s appointment was expected to expand the FCT-IRS revenue base.
Mr Ango will take over from Haruna Abdullahi, who headed the FCT-IRS in an acting capacity for about three years.
Mr Ogunleye said that Mr Ango, with over 20 years of experience in public and private sector capacities, has consistently demonstrated commitment to excellence and innovation in revenue collection and management.
He said, “He is, therefore, expected to bring his wealth of experience and proven track record in revenue administration, financial management, and organisational leadership to improve the performance of the service.’’
Mr Ango, from Kebbi State, holds a Master of Law degree from the Columbia University School of Law, New York, obtained in 2019 and a Bachelor of Law degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, obtained in 2002.
He attended the Nigerian Law School in 2003 and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government’s Executive Education in Comparative Tax Policy and Administration Programme in 2013.
He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the International Association of Privacy Professionals, amongst others.
The statement noted that, “As acting chairman of the FCT-IRS, Mr Ango will oversee the implementation of strategic initiatives to enhance revenue generation and ensure fiscal sustainability.’’
It noted that Ango’s appointment came at a crucial time when the FCT-IRS seeks to expand its revenue base, improve taxpayer compliance, and streamline operations for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
