Wike justifies summary execution of IPOB members

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has urged members of IPOB to repent else they will die like vultures without heads.
Mr Wike made the statement on Wednesday during an event on live television in Port Harcourt. The statement has since generated furore online, keeping Mr Wike atop the Twitter trend table in Nigeria with attendant flaks.
The Rivers governor described the assertion that members of the IPOB use charms to carry out their activities and resist arrest as myths.
“When people say IPOB is carrying juju. No problem, that’s what you say. But what’s happening? Are they not dying? So, let nobody deceive you with juju,” Mr Wike said.
Further speaking, he asserted that criminals who failed to repent will die and would not be buried by their parents.
“All of you criminals who are here, say: ‘today, 2nd of June 2021, I repent’. If you don’t repent, the period has come. You will die, your parents will not bury you.
“We will bury you like vulture. Either your hand will be cut off, or they will blow your head off. Your parents would not even know that you are dead.
Mr Wike has since come under attack by some Nigerians following his speech against members of IPOB.
A Twitter user with the name, Emeka Gift said, “I want to let the world understand that so many Igbos have been killed in Igweocha by Wike. Every Igbo person is indigenous to Biafra and Igbo that is the meaning of #IPOB. SAVE that video we shall confront Wike with it at the right time.”
Another Twitter user said, “I said this before and I’ll say it again, Gov Wike just doesn’t cut it right in a Democratic setting and as a lawyer. When we see what is wrong, let’s call it out before the same thing consumes us.”
