Imo police summon six officers over viral video of alleged assault on motorists

Six police officers of the Imo State Police Command have been summoned to the Complaint Response Unit over alleged intimidation and assault of motorists on Orlu Road, Owerri, Imo State.
The CRU disclosed this in a post on X on Monday in response to a viral video involving the errant officers.
The Police CRU wrote, “With regard to the @PoliceNG officers captured in the viral video from @ImoPoliceNG State via instagram.com/reel/DfAwOw5t8…, the officers have been identified and were summoned to the @PoliceNG_CRU today, 2nd November, 2026 for further Investigations.”
The police CRU assured that its findings would be communicated as soon as possible.
The video showed one of the officers punching a motorist and cocking his gun in readiness to shoot the victim, while another officer could be heard telling him to leave the victim alone.
A voice, believed to be that of the victim, was also heard speaking loudly, saying, “Why did you break my phone? Just because we didn’t have money to buy fuel for you? You cocked your gun for us? This is where they parked our car because we refused to give them money for fuel.”
