Chelsea beat Servette 2-0 in Europa Conference League play-off first leg

Premier League side Chelsea kicked off their new season campaign in Europe with a 2-0 win over Swiss side Servette F.C in the first leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League play-off on Thursday night.
It was a game everyone expected Chelsea to dominate but were unable to break the deadlock at Stamford Bridge until five minutes after the break when Christopher Nkunku scored from the hosts from the spot.
Moments later, new signing Marc Guiu was given a huge opportunity to double the lead when goalkeeper Jeremy Flick failed to clear the ball properly, leaving the Spaniard striker with an empty net but his shot lacked power which allowed Flick to catch up.
Substitute Noni Madueke doubled the lead for Chelsea in the 76th minute. Midfielder Enzo Fernandez found Madueke with a through ball which the winger drove into the box from the right side of the pitch before latching a right-footed shot into the net.
Chelsea now hold a commanding 2-0 advantage over Servette ahead of the second leg at the Stade de Genève in Geneva, Switzerland next Thursday with the winner advancing to the Conference League finals.
