Police arrest 26 suspected phone snatchers in Kano

Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested 26 suspected phone snatchers and recovered 126 stolen phones.

In a post on its official X handle on Friday, the command stated that the police carried out the arrests and recoveries from September 1 to 10, 2024.

The command wrote, “A series of operations was conducted from 1st to 10th September 2024 that led to the arrest of a total of 26 suspects and recovery of 126 stolen and robbed mobile phones.”

“In addition, other exhibits were recovered, including hard drugs and dangerous weapons,” it added.

The command said the operations were in compliance with a directive by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to all police commands and formations to tackle all crimes and criminalities.

Responding to the directive, the Commissioner of Police, Salman Garba, directed the command’s tactical units to decimate remnants of mobile phone snatching and robbery in part of the state.
