NSCDC arrests five suspected vandals in FCT

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FCT command has arrested five persons for allegedly vandalising critical national assets and infrastructure (CNAI) in the territory.
This is contained in a statement by the FCT NSCDC public relations officer (PRO), Samuel Idoko, on Wednesday in Abuja.
The PRO said that two of the five suspects were arrested around Wuse Market Bridge while conveying vandalised iron poles.
He added that the other three suspects were arrested around Durumi 2 Pantaker market at midnight while attempting to transport vandalised items to a sales point.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are part of a syndicate and are always in possession of items suspected to have been vandalised or stolen.
“Exhibits recovered from the suspects include two solar batteries, one gas cylinder, one generator set, one refrigerator gas cylinder, one iron hammer, and air conditioner gas pipe, amongst other items,” he said.
Mr Idoko said that further investigation revealed that buyers visited the location, where the arrest was made at odd hours with trucks to buy the items and conveyed them to destinations yet to be known.
The spokesperson said that investigation was currently ongoing to ensure that justice would be served and the perpetrators of these heinous crimes held accountable.
“They will be made to face the full wrath of the law as the NSCDC FCT Command and the Corps at large has zero tolerance for vandalism,” he said.
