Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, has congratulated Prof. Edoba Bright Omoregie, SAN, on his appointment as the 11th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin.

This is contained in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Oba of Benin, Osaigbovo Iguobaro, on Monday.

The monarch said that the milestone was a testament to Mr Iguobaro’s unwavering dedication and remarkable professionalism, which had significantly contributed to knowledge, truth, and justice in the legal profession.

The king noted that as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria about to assume the prestigious position of Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, he prayed to God and the ancestors to guide and protect him in his new role.

Prof. Lilian Salami is the 10th substantive VC of the university.

Ms Salami made history as the second female VC of UNIBEN after a professor of Mathematics, Grace Alele-Williams.
