Treason: Court dismisses suit against 119 #EndBadGovernance protesters

Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the terrorism suit against 119 protesters arraigned on Friday for alleged treason.
This followed an application by M.D Abubakar, the counsel to the Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, who applied and prayed the court to allow the AGF to take over and discontinue the suit.
The first batch of the defendants arraigned at the previous proceeding were 76 protesters, out of which 32 were minors, while the second batch comprised 43 protesters.
This came a day after President Bola Tinubu directed the AGF to start the process of securing the release of the minors being prosecuted for vandalism and raising foreign flags during the #EndBadGovernance protest in August.
The dismissal of the suit followed condemnation of Friday’s prosecution of 32 minors aged between 10 and 17.
Two of the minors, 14-year-old Muhammed Yahaya and 16-year-old Muktar Ishak Alhassan, as well as two adults, 18-year-old Mustapha Ibrahim and 21-year-old Usman Fatihu, had slumped while they were in the dock before they were taken to a medical facility.
