French midfielder Paul Pogba removed a bottle of Heineken placed on a table in front of him at a Euro 2020 press conference just a day after football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo cleared off Coca-Cola bottles during a pre-match press briefing.

Pogba is a Muslim, but the bottle of Heineken drink placed in front of him was a non-alcoholic beverage.

After helping France to a win against Germany in their opening group game, Pogba, in a viral video, was seen removing a bottle of Heineken from his table at a post-match conference. 

Though he did not comment on his action, Pogba might have removed the drink because Islam forbids alcoholic beverages. 

On Tuesday, Ronaldo, at a pre-match (Portugal vs Hungary) news briefing, cleared Coca-Cola drinks off his table while holding a bottle of water, saying, “Agua.”

According to the UK Guardian, Coca-Cola shares suffered a $4 billion loss shortly after Ronaldo openly snubbed the brand. 

Heineken has yet to react to Pogba’s gesture. But it celebrated Ronaldo in a tweet on Tuesday, after the Portuguese star broke Michel Platini’s goalscoring record in the European competition, netting brace against Hungary. 

“We know he prefers ‘agua’, but cheers to the all-time top scorer! #HUNPOR #Euro2020,” Heineken said.
