The troops of Sector 3, Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have neutralised five ISWAP terrorists in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno while three soldiers were killed during the operation.

The troops also recovered arms and 40 motorcycles from the terrorists.

Lt.-Col. Olaniyi Osoba, chief military information officer, MNJTF N’djamena, Chad, disclosed this on Monday in Maiduguri.

He said the gallant troops neutralised the terrorists, who launched an offensive using suicide Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs) on the MNJTF troops on Friday.

“Following intense air cum artillery bombardments and ground assault, five terrorists were neutralised while several others fled with gunshot wounds.

“During the operation, own air assets destroyed three VBIEDs while troops captured 40 motorbikes equipped with assorted weapons, four anti-aircraft guns, and one rocket-propelled grenade. Unfortunately, three soldiers paid the supreme price,” he said.
