Two in court over alleged theft of car cylinders

The police in Lagos on Wednesday arraigned two men before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court over alleged conspiracy and theft of cylinders.
The defendants, Tumise Olalere, 25 and Rilwan Wahab, 27, whose house addresses were not provided, are being tried before Magistrate L.K.J. Layeni, on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
The duo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendants committed the offences in August at the Ilaje axis of Volks in Ojo, Lagos.
He said that the defendants conspired to steal a Toyota Corolla top cylinder, valued at N400,000, a Lt cylinder, valued at N200,000 and a 2 G.R cylinder, valued at N200,000.
Mr Uche told the court that the stolen cylinders belonged to the complainant, one Ajayi Hassan.
He said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The magistrate granted the defendants bail in the sum of N300,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case till Jan. 8, 2025 for mention.
