Police nab two suspected gunrunners in Kaduna

The police command in Kaduna says it has apprehended two suspected gunrunners along Zaria – Jos Road.
The command said it recovered eight locally made pump action guns, one local pistol and 65 live ammunition from the suspects.
This is contained in a statement by the spokesman of the command, ASP Mansir Hassan, on Friday in Kaduna.
He said that on Dec. 5, at about 11:35 hours, officers from 47 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron, Zaria, acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of illegal arms within the state, intercepted two suspects during a routine vehicular patrol along Zaria – Jos Road.
Hassan said the suspects (names withheld), who were natives of Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina state, were found in possession of a bag containing the arms and ammunition.
He said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly involved in illegal trafficking of firearms.
“They are currently cooperating with the police to aid in the apprehension of their accomplices, and to uncover the full extent of the gunrunning network in the state,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Abdullahi, commended the officers for their swift response and reaffirmed commitment to maintain law and order.
He also urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police.
