Cavendish University appoints Goodluck Jonathan new chancellor

Cavendish University, a private university in Uganda, has announced the appointment of former Nigerian President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, as it’s third Chancellor.
The University made the announcement on social media, through its Twitter handle.
“Welcome aboard @GEJonathan as you take over as the Chancellor of CUU. We look forward to this new era and achieving great things under your leadership.
Success begins at Cavendish!”
Mr Jonathan’s appointment makes him the third chancellor of the university, replacing Benjamin Mkapa, the late President of the United Republic of Tanzania, the second Chancellor, and the late Dr Kenneth Kaunda former President of the Republic of Zambia, who was the pioneer Chancellor.
Mr Jonathan is expected to be installed on August 26, 2021 in time to preside over the conferment of degrees and award of diplomas and certificates at the University’s 10th Graduation Ceremony which will take place at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort on the same date.
Mr Jonathan holds a PhD in Zoology from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and has served in political capacity as the governor of Bayelsa State, Vice President and in 2010, he became the 14th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
